Have not updated for some time now because I have been really busy out on the course. Bill convinced me that the turn on the back nine was anything but ideal. Too much criss-crossing, and the blind shot on what is now new-old #13 was just too much to go for on a first run at a course.

I could not have agreed more, but this has been one of the most difficult parts of the course all along. From day one, when old #1 was back up on Arguello shooting East, the Western-most part of the course has been the most challenging to map out.

Tuesday night at 7:30pm Bill convinced me we needed to remap #13, and in order to do that we had to rethink the whole nine. Two hours later all we had to show for our efforts were a bunch of posts pulled out of the ground. And a headache.

The next day I was invited to go help David Welty and Pete Sontag finalize the pin placement for the Safari, an opportunnity I did not want to miss out on; but the fact that the Presidio had gone from being a completed course to a half-assed one overnight was haunting me. After harassing Bill for a few minutes on the phone during work it was agreed: we would conquer the bear, or get drunk trying.

I am happy to say that I think we have the best version of the course to date! The back nine flows like it never has before, and it goes in a very intuitive figure 8 that never has you driving over another fairway or at another tee. You will have to come play it to see what I mean :-).
