************** SFDGC Mailing List **************

Bill Cooper, SFDGC #3 and Official Technical Specialist has, in his own words, "...created the San Francisco Disc Golf Club majordomo listserv.

"[skip this if you know what that last line meant] when you subscribe to a majordomo list, all mail sent to the "list address" will be sent to everyone subscribed to the list, just as all replies to that msg will be sent to all those on the list.

"to subscribe send email addressed to:

majordomo@lists.io.com

"leave the subject blank, it will be skipped anyway, in the _BODY_ of the email, type:

subscribe sfdgc_list

"that's it, send it. that's an underscore between sfdgc and list, not a dash."

This list equals a way to stay very in tune with other disc golfers from around the Internet, in the closest thing to real time next to "Chat." This is where the majority of SFDGC Communication takes place.

Want to shoot a round in Santa Cruz, but have no-one to go with? Post to the list.

Have a great new T-Shirt/Disc Design you want to sell? Post to the list.

Have a need for...you get the idea. Check it out if you want, you can always unsubscribe.

************** Proposals A-Go-GO **************

We currently have the "Request For Proposal" from the National Park Service, and we are in the process of requesting a proposal (duh=). John Starr, SFDGC #4, and the man driving the Presidio Proposal is working on the wording. John has written a few grants in the past (yes, they were approved), and he has the wording, attitude, and hoop-jumping down. _Huge_ thanks to John for stepping up to the plate on this, and I hope that we can work with the NPS to come to an agreement we all can live by [i.e.: a disc golf course in the Presidio!].

There are other parks in the city that would make fantastic venues for disc golf courses. If you live in the city, or have been here and can make a recommendation --besides Golden Gate Park-- of a park that would be really fun for me, my dad and my little sisters to throw a disc around give me a ping. I do not know about the rest of you, but my goals do not end with one course in SF. I am convinced that the first course is going to be the most difficult to get, and once we get one in, we will have five! And then maybe we can have more than one tournament a year here...=) ANd maybe we can get the first league of high school disc golfers! Ahh, but I digress...

************** Mapping New Courses **************

The NPS guys have made it clear that our odds of success rise exponentially as we add more options to our proposal. This said, we now are faced with the task of finding more places in the Presidio that are ideal for disc golf, and mapping prospective courses. I would like to turn the Tuesday Night Shoot a round into the Tuesday Night Map A Course until it starts to get dark too early, in which case we will make it Saturdays! We need help locating places in the Presidio prior to the T.N.M.A.C., so even if you cannot make it to hang with the group, we appreciate any leads on solid ground, pardon the puns.

************** Baskets From Trees? **************

As mentioned in the previous section, the NPS guys have made it clear that our odds of success are better when coupled with more options: one of the things they have asked for is alternative ways of placing baskets, besides sinking them in the ground. Sacriligious as this sounds, any ideas?...I have played with the idea of hanging them from trees in the past, has anyone actually ever tried that?

**************

As always, thanks for your support, and PLAY DISC GOLF!
