Monday, December 1:

The long awaited site re-design is finally coming to fruition. If you have not noticed by this point that the site is completely different either you have a horrible memory, or this is your first time here. Either way, welcome to the new online home of the San Francisco Disc Golf Club! Be sure to check out the Community section of the site for a collection of fantastic disc golf resources. Club Secretary Dan Warburton is currently working on all of the necessary paperwork for our application for non-profit status, and he is documenting his every step. As soon as he has a complete set of step-by-step directions available we will add them to this section. In the meantime you can expand your wealth of knowledge by reading all of the fantastic material Ross Hammond has generated for the proposal for a course in Mc Laren Park. Shad Augenstein gets a huge thanks for designing the new site template, as well as all of the cool new graphics.

FOGBOUND

Tune in to KFOG, 104.5 FM at any of the times listed below to hear a "Fog File" on disc golf in San Francisco:
  • Monday, 12/1: Noon
  • Tuesday, 12/2: 1am, 8pm
  • Wednesday 12/3: 6am, 4pm
  • Thursday 12/4: 9pm
  • Saturday 12/6: 9am
  • Sunday 12/7: 2am, Noon

Peter Finch, the news director for KFOG, met with Neal Hoellwarth, David Welty and myself in the Presidio on Sunday, November 15, to discuss the history and future of disc golf. I have not heard the piece yet myself, but I am really excited about the momentum we continue to build.

OURSTORY

It has not even been a full year since Dan Warburton "officially" became the second member of the SFDGC, and already we are working on obtaining community support for the first course in San Francisco. If you have not been following along the whole time, feel free to read my version of the story at Discgolfer Online that should be coming out any day now. Until the story is out, feel free to read the letter Ross sent to Dave in response to the question of sandbagging ams.

Dave Henrickson has done an excellent job of creating an online magazine that serves to educate, as well as offer a forum for discussion, and his site is worth hitting on a regular basis (updates monthly).

Press Coverage

We have recieved some other press coverage lately, including a very well-written column by Katharine Miezkowski in the November 19 issue of the Bay Gaurdian, and I am working on getting permission to re-print all of the articles on the site. If that does happen, look for a press room to be added in the near future.
