Club EventsWe have hosted two doubles tournaments in Aquatic Park to date, and they have both been very successful. The first tournament, held on Saturday, December 20, saw 3 teams of two battle it out for the right to pick first from the bag of discs the club had acquired from Neal Hoellwarth. The method of insuring that teams were as even as could be hoped for was employed, and everyone had a good time, over all. First Place: Dan Warburton and Brian Henderson Second Place: Tom Pitmon and Ken Ingrey Third Place: Greg Quiroga and Warren Sedar (thanks to a double bogey on #8, ouch!) On Saturday, January 10, we held a doubles tournament in the rain; four people showed up. Ken Ingrey and Greg Quiroga managed to squeak a win against Matt Wachowiak and Shad Augenstein. It was agreed that all of the proceeds would go to the club. We held the tournament on the second Saturday of January instead of the third because we erroneously thought that the Berkeley Best Pairs bash was happening on the third weekend of the month. Boy were we wrong. So we will be out in Berkeley this Saturday, and if there are enough people we will have a doubles tournament starting at 10:00am. Other wise we will see you on Saturday, February 21, at 10:00am. For more information on the doubles tournament please visit http://www.dnai.com/~queue/sfdgc/events.html
Updates On CoursesA 27 hole course has been approved for the South side of Lake Mendocino, just north of Ukiah and West of Highway 101. It is currently an object course, consisting of homemade tube-tones, but they are utilizing a creative method to raise funding for regulation pole-holes. Contact Gregory M Roberts for more information. A new 18 hole course has been mapped out in Skyline Park in Napa, and Marvin is in the process of raising money for baskets. This year's Vintage Cup should be a blast, as it looks like there will be two courses: one permanent, one temp. 11 baskets have been installed in Hellard Park South of San Jose on 101. Each hole has two pin placements and two tee pads, and the monthly tournament held on the second Saturday of each month utilizes all 22 possibilities. After the rainy season they are going to be able to put in the final 7 holes, but due to flooding of low-lying areas that will probably not be until someone puts El Nino out of his misery.
