The San Francisco Disc Golf Club (SFDGC) worked in conjunction with the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department to install the first permanent disc golf course in San Francisco. This 18-hole world-class course is located in Golden Gate Park, the crown jewel of the San Francisco Parks System. The course was officially opened on March 31st, 2007 after a lengthy 17 month closure.
It took more than eight years of struggle by the San Francisco Disc Golf Club to gain the approval for a
permanent disc golf course in Golden Gate Park. Then came the time for the SFDGC to raise all the funds to purchase the material and construct the course.
The San Francisco Disc Golf Club was pleased to be able to offer two levels of sponsorship at the Golden Gate Park Disc Golf Course, situated in one of the nation's most well-known and utilized urban parks.
Individuals, groups, and not-for-profit organizations were invited to show their commitment to disc golf in San Francisco, and in return received a timeless reminder of their generosity. Each tax-deductible donation helped pay for the materials needed to install the course including the baskets, tee pads, signage, tree protection measures and future maintenance needs.
COURSE SPONSOR:
For a $500 donation, course sponsors are recognized with a bronze plaque on the course sign near hole #1. Limit was one name per course sponsor.
